Keighley Cougars recorded their third straight home win in a row by defeating local rivals Bradford Bulls on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts came into the game following a defeat to the hands of Halifax last time out started the game strongly as strong carries put the Bulls goal line defence under pressure for the opening 15 minutes.

The Cougars did open the scoring on 25 minutes as good build up play put Alix Stevenson in the corner.

Dane Chisholm then got in on the act and took advantage of a Bradford handling error to race in under the posts to double the advantage against his old club.

Joe Gibbons making his debut for the Cougars on a season long loan from Leeds Rhinos then added a third try for the Cougars powering over the line.

Another old Bradford Boy added a further nail into the Bulls coffin before the break as Luke Gale scored his first try in front of the home faithful to send the home side into the interval 24-0 up following a late Chisholm penalty kick.

A four try rout in an impressive 15 minute spell, the hosts took a well deserved lead in to the sheds.

The opening stages of the second half were a very even affair although it was the hosts who extended their advantage as Jake Webster making his first appearance of the season powered through a gap in the Bulls defence and offloaded to a supporting Charlie Graham who went over in the corner.

The visitors did get on the board as Leeds loanee Liam Tindall went over for a consolation try with 5 minutes to go.

It was the Cougars who had the final say as Robbie Storey crashed over in the dying seconds to score his 9th of the season and ensure the Cougars had their first competitive win over their local rivals since 1945 in front of a 4,790 crowd.
