HEAD Coach Rhys Lovegrove has today announced his squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against the Coventry Bears.
With this being the final opportunity to give all his players a runout ahead of the start of the Betfred League One season in a fortnight’s time, Lovegrove has named all who are available to play in a 29-man squad.
This means that those who featured against Bradford, and London, will get one final opportunity to cement their places in the matchday seventeen for the league opener against Doncaster RL at Cougar Park on the 9th of May.
Scott Murrell will also finally get the opportunity to take to the field in a Cougars jersey for the first time, having missed both of March’s games whilst ruled out through a calf injury.
There will also be runouts for the first time in 2021 for both Jake Webster (Paternity Leave) and Spencer Darley (Shielding) who have now returned for training following their leaves of absence.
This means of the first team squad, only four players will miss out on the opportunity to take to the paddock for the visit of Coventry.
The first two are the long-term injuries of Wellington Albert (Ankle) and Alix Stephenson (Leg) who are both ruled out through the injuries they sustained last month in training and against the Bulls, respectively.
Joining them on the side-lines for this one is Morgan Robinson (Concussion) and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e (Exams).
