Keighley Cougars are delighted to confirm that Matty Beharrell will remain at Cougar Park for the 2027 season! 🙌
An experienced half-back with a proven kicking game and a wealth of knowledge across the professional game, Matty will be an important part of the squad being assembled by head coach Matty Bramald.
Having first represented the Cougars in 2017 and 2018 before returning in 2025, Matty knows the club and what it means to the supporters. His career has included spells with Hull KR, Newcastle, Swinton, Doncaster, Dewsbury and Hunslet, where he helped secure promotion in 2024.
With new faces arriving at Cougar Park, keeping that experience within the group gives our younger players someone to learn from as the squad comes together for pre-season.
🎙️ Head coach Matty Bramald said:
“I’m really pleased we’ll have Matty with us for 2027. Having an experienced half-back who understands the game and can help organise the players around him is a big positive.
“He brings quality in a key position, and his experience will be valuable as we bring this group together. I’m looking forward to working with him and getting the best out of him in a Cougars shirt.”
🎙️ Richard Dibbin added:
“We’re absolutely delighted Matty will be with us next season. Alongside bringing new players into the club, keeping established quality and experience is an important part of putting this squad together.
“Matty has plenty to offer, and we’re really happy he’ll be part of what we’re building. There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes, and it’s exciting to see the group taking shape.”
Experience in the halves. Another important piece in place for 2027.
Let’s hear it for Matty, Cougars fans! 👏
