Keighley Cougars have confirmed that Luke Gale has been released from his contract to join Wakefield Trinity with immediate effect.
Gale said “I would like to thank Keighley Cougars and wish them all the best with the remainder of the season. I’ve enjoyed my time and Keighley and would like to pass on my thanks to Ryan and Kaue, the board of directors, the players, coaching staff and fans”
The club have accepted a transfer fee and we want to thank Luke for all his efforts in Cougars colours and we wish him the best of luck in his new chapter.
Ryan O’Neill said “We wish Luke well in his move to Wakefield. We understand that with the current unknown status surrounding clubs IMG gradings, Luke wanted a guaranteed opportunity to get back into Super League. We thank him for his time at Keighley, a truly decent and nice guy who we are sorry to see leave.”
Gale must like Championship rugby as it looks like he’ll be back next season.
Shame his replacement is now plying his trade at Newcastle.
We allowed Jack Miller to leave to accommodate Luke Gale.
BIG MISTAKE.
Clueless owners
At least Keighley have got a transfere fee out of it.
Why get rid of your best player with good years left for a player at the end of his career.
Best not try get miller back as I know what I’d say to you if I was him.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I do agree with Tony about release of our best player from season before, now look to our youngsters to break thru and seize their chance
Shame we have lost Miller, I reckon he would be a class championship player and give any team a run for their money, he had the teams backing for sure, Luke is good, I wouldn’t say great if I’m honest, the change in half back did not have the desired effect on the team from the off, probably the counter effect truth be told, so where are we at in regards to a half back now then?
Welcome back JC

Everyone saying Jack was pushed out,how many games have gale and chis both played together? Jack lost sight and patience but would probably have played most games anyway. Gale wanted super league but says that he’d turned offers down bfore season started? He was just fed up driving to k town in the evening for training. The cougars were alive before him and will move on and survive without him
Didn’t Miller ask to leave instead of staying to fight for his place ? Correct me if i,m wrong.
When Jack Miller left the club I made a comment on how saddened I was to see a great clubman player and highly talented goalkicker leaving.
Can anyone honestly say that the team has performed better without him ?
It would be great to have him back but finding someone brave enough to ask him may be difficult.
Very bad management losing the player of the year in last year’s 1st division for the inevitable paying for a not committed player to Keighley Cougars what now?
We need a player of Jack Miller calibre or better
