Keighley Cougars can today announce the season long loan signing of young middle Matty Laidlaw from Hull FC.
The strong carrying prop forward is a powerful front rower, difficult to bring to a halt and just what the club are looking to add to the squad.
Laidlaw made his senior debut in the 2022 Magic Weekend fixture against Hull KR, and went on to make a total of eight appearances in his debut season.
Steve, COO at Cougars said “I must thank James Clarke at Hull FC for facilitating Matty’s arrival at Keighley and look forward to a strong relationship between the two clubs in the future. It’s a significant signing as we start to develop a new relationship with a top Super League club. Matty comes with the hunger to play rugby and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the group.”
“Obviously Matty is a very capable player coming from Hull FC and the reports out of their place is that he’s had a good season. He’s just not quite getting into the 21-man squad.”
The loan deal for Matty was signed and filed before the RFL deadline and he is in contention for selection this weekend against Widnes.
