Pebble Wellbeing have intervened and offered wellbeing and mental health support following the news of the intense personal and professional pressures felt by the clubs’ owners. This partnership is unique in rugby league.
The entire club, to include management, playing and non-playing staff are now receiving professional emotional wellbeing support from Pebble Wellbeing, a leading UK Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider, which stepped in after learning of the challenges the owners had been facing.
Garcia and O’Neill, who have been widely recognised for their leadership within professional sport, being the only gay couple owning and running a professional sports club, found themselves under mounting pressure from the demands of club ownership, and the impact of sustained personal abuse. Pebble Wellbeing offered immediate access to professional emotional support and counselling services to help them process the pressures they had been facing.
The club are incredibly grateful to Pebble Wellbeing for their support and this new partnership. With societal pressures, this kind of support for our players, staff and management is invaluable.
