1895 Cup Group Stage

Cougars’ first competitive outing of 2024 sees newly promoted Championship outfit Dewsbury Rams visit Cougar Park for the group stage of the revamped 1895 cup. While not necessarily a knockout game, both sides will be looking to get off to a flying start if they have ambitions to progress from the group.

A Look at the Opposition

A successful 2023 saw Dewsbury Rams bounce back to the Championship after only one season in League One, winning the league at the first time of asking to gain automatic promotion from rugby league’s third tier.

Rams have shown their potential for 2024 with three preseason fixtures, earning a draw on Boxing Day against Batley before falling to losses against Featherstone and Huddersfield – three tough fixtures that they will have learnt from and will have been great preparation for what should be a fascinating group stage.

Dewsbury will be picking a squad from:

Owen Restall, Perry Whiteley, Ollie Greensmith, Bailey O’Connor, Lewis Carr, Paul Sykes, Calum Turner, Jimmy Beckett, Jacob Hookem, Ronan Dixon, Brad Graham, Matt Garside, Louis Collinson, Joe Summers, Elliot Morris, Jackson Walker, Davey Dixon, Travis Corion, Curtis Davies, Marcus Walker, Bailey Dawson, Nathan Lawrence, Joel Russell, Harry Copley, Jamie Field

Cougars Squad News

A clean-ish bill of health for the Cougars with everyone coming through the Halifax game unscathed. Oscar Thomas is still a doubt with a dead leg sustained in Jake Websters Farewell Game against Castleford Tigers. Alex Bishop and Liam Copland are still in the rehab room with more shorter term injuries.
