Keighley Cougars are delighted to welcome Finlay Balback to Cougar Park for the 2027 season — and we’re excited about what’s ahead for this young half-back! 🙌
Having gained experience with Bradford Bulls and during a loan spell at Hunslet, Finlay now has the opportunity to take the next step in his career under head coach Matty Bramald.
What stood out in our conversations with Finlay was how much he wants to develop. He’s ambitious, keen to earn regular first-team rugby and ready to learn from the experienced players around him.
That makes Keighley an exciting opportunity for Finlay — and Finlay an exciting addition for the Cougars.
🎙️ Head coach Matty Bramald said:
“Finlay is a young player I’m really excited to work with. There’s potential there, and our job is to help him turn that into performances at senior level.
“He wants to learn and push himself, which gives us a good starting point. With a full pre-season, support from the coaching staff and experienced teammates around him, I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops.
“He’ll have the opportunity to compete for his place and show us what he can do.”
🎙️ Richard Dibbin added:
“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to bring Finlay to Keighley. From speaking with him, it was clear this decision was about his rugby development and finding the right opportunity to move forward.
“Matty and I really wanted him on board. He’s given his next step a lot of thought, and we’re delighted he sees his future here.
“There’s something exciting about bringing a young player into the club and seeing what they can become. I’m looking forward to watching Finlay’s progress in a Cougars shirt.”
Plenty of potential. An opportunity to grow. A new Cougar to get behind.
Welcome to Keighley, Finlay! 👏🟢🔴
