Bears To Visit For Friendly Match

KEIGHLEY Cougars can today announce our final friendly match ahead of the 2021 Betfred League One season.

This friendly will see our divisional rivals Coventry Bears visit Cougar Park on Saturday 24^th April for a 3pm kick-off.

The fixture will also be the final chance for the boys to take to the field ahead of the beginning of the Betfred League One season against Doncaster at Cougar Park on Sunday 9^th May.

And it will be the first game to take place at Cougar Park in 434 days, the previous game on home soil being last season’s Challenge Cup defeat to Newcastle on the 15^th of February 2020.

Under the current guidelines in place by the sports governing body, the Rugby Football League, due to Covid-19 clubs are only allowed to play two pre-season friendlies.

The Joe Phillips Memorial Trophy loss to the Bradford Bulls earlier this month was the first of our two friendlies, with the visit of the Bears next month counting as the second.

It will also be the second successive year that Coventry have visited Cougar Park for a pre-season friendly, with the Cougars emerging victorious in Josh Lynam’s Testimonial Match in January of last year.

This friendly will unfortunately be played BEHIND CLOSED DOORS as supporters will not be permitted to attend this fixture due to current Covid-19 restrictions.
