KEIGHLEY Cougars are today delighted to announce the return of Cougar Pride.

Our Betfred League 1 Round Fourteen fixture against the Coventry Bears at Cougar Park on Sunday 15th August will see the club host it’s second Cougar Pride event.

Fresh of our both historical and successful Cougar Pride in 2019 against the West Wales Raiders, the first event of its kind to ever be held in both professional Rugby League and professional sport in this country, the club are delighted to be able to host a second edition of the event.

Keighley Cougars have always been known as leading the way and continue to do so, celebrating the movement and supporting the fight against homophobia as shown by the flag worn by the players on the sleeves of this season’s jerseys.

The Cougars will sport a specially designed pride kit chosen for the League One fixture in what will be a continuation of the first for the Rugby Football League (RFL) in the UK from 2019.

This season’s kit has been designed by Ryan O’Neill and his husband Kaue Garcia, who are one of only two openly gay sports club owners in the world.

The kit, as well as a few more surprises, for #CougarPride2 will be announced over the next coming days with the kit going on sale on the club website over the weekend.

The club are confident the colourful PRIDE party we plan to have organised, similar to that of two years ago, around the match will continue to help us in our mission to rekindle the spirit of Cougarmania which helped sweep the team to glory back in the early 1990s.

The day itself is a PRIDE festival with festivities throughout the day for spectators on the terraces and in the Hall of Fame bar.

There will be entertainment, face painting, and special events throughout the day celebrating diversity, equality and inclusivity.

With Covid-19 restrictions now eased, the club are also delighted to be able to announce the temporary capacity of Cougar Park has been increased with supporters now able to purchase alcohol both inside and outside the bars to take onto the terraces.

All these factors will add to a fantastic day and atmosphere as we look forward to continuing making history against the Bears on the 15th of August.
