Keighley Cougars have today launched our home shirt for the 2025 season.
2025 marks the the 10th year since Danny Jones tragically passed away due to a cardiac arrest, the predominantly red shirt features a white V is outlined with a green trim which is a nod to Danny’s Welsh heritate.
The shirt features our main sponsor, Raiseprint along with new sponsors; Bentley Motor Group, Fire & Evacuation Services, Swan Environmental, The Original Metal Sign Company and Bradford 2025 City of Culture along with retained sponsors Stell, Scott Kenyon, Brsk and Clever Energy Boilers.
The shorts feature Treehouse Bar & Kitchen, Old Time Fisheries, The Kindered Bizzare and Supreme Financial Services.
In May 2015, Danny’s shirt number 6 was retired. There has been a lot of consideration over the years and in consultation with Danny’s family, it has been agreed that the 6 shirt will appear on field with Keighley Cougars in memory and tribute of Danny marking the 10 year anniversary since his death.
Each 6 shirt from 2025 onwards will feature The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund logo at the base of the number 6.
As a collective we hope that this serves as a respectful memory of Danny along with a reminder of the work that Lizzie Jones in particular has done within the sport to highlight undiagnosed heart conditions and prevent any tragic events in the future.
Keighley Cougars are committed to raising funds for The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund and as such will donate a percentage of principle shirt sales to the fund at the end of the season.
Steve Watkinson, COO said “I would like to first of all thank Danny’s family and Lizzie for being open to the idea of this shirt and everything it stands for. Having Phoebe and Bobby at the launch was extremely special and I am overwhelmed by their support.”
“Our sponsors, old and new have been a fantastic support of this concept and it’s an honour to have their brands and businesses represented on what I believe will go down as an all time great Keighley shirt.”
“The shirt marks a year of fundraising for The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund and fans can look forward to some exciting events later in the year. We are working closely with Buster and ex-colleagues of Danny, with a view to get a charity game on in the Spring. I would also like to place on record our thanks to Dr. Richard Lawrence for his continued heart screening work within Rugby League.”
The kit will be worn on December 22nd when we take on Bradford Bulls at Odsal Stadium with a number of the off season signings set to take to the field.
Fans can purchase the shirt online here.
The new Cougars club shop will be open from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Saturday 14th December.
