As the 2024 pre-season edges closer the squad is building nicely for what will be an adventure in to Rugby League unknown. In terms of the league structure we are still no clearer on what that may look like.

We are pleased to confirm the retentions of Mark Ioane and captain Ellis Robson for 2024. Both players have been stand out throughout the 2023 season and we are pleased to retain their services.

COO Steve Watkinson said “Mark and Ellis have been absolute stars this season. Setting high standards not just for themselves, but for others. Both leaders in their own right and a key component to success in 2024 and 2025 having both signed new two-year deals with the club.”

Oscar Thomas is also retained where he has played half back and full back. His versatility is something of a luxury in the squad and he is hoping to nail down a starting shirt.

Ben Dean comes highly regarded from Huddersfield Giants where he has played in the halves and is looking to fight for his spot in the team. Cougars have enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Reserves Coach Tom Tsang and are looking to build on this relationship which may see other players getting opportunities within the Cougars team.

Aaron Brown is another new addition and with over 200 professional games to his name will add much needed punch in the middle of the park.

Jordan Schofield joins the club from Wakefield Trinity having been impressed with coach Matt Foster. Jordan had options to stay at Wakefield and join other clubs but opted to continue his development under Matt and his coaching team.

Ever popular Matt Bailey rejoins for 2024 and is looking to pick up where he left off. Jake Webster, DOR said “I understand how important it is to have people who want to play for the club. This club means a lot of things to a lot of people and Matt Bailey is one of those people. He will help ingest what it means to play for Keighley to this group of players as we go through the trials and tribulations of a Rugby League season. To me it’s really important that we have people in the squad who know what this club means to you, the fans.”

Things are looking rosy for 2024!
